Hello! My name is Roxanna but people call me Rox.

Ultrasound did not come easily to me. In fact, when patients say to me, “I don’t know how you know what you’re looking at.” My answer is generally a joking, “Years of tears”. This makes them chuckle; however, the struggle of learning ultrasound is real. A lack of exposure, time constraints, anxiety and lack of attention from mentors result in a high stress environment which many go through, including myself.

From my struggles, I found that in my fifth year I had so much to give and a knack for explaining concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. When training students became the majority of my work week, I further discovered that I loved passing along the knowledge and experience I had gained from so many mentors along the way. The tangible results of seeing someone improve and gain confidence before my very eyes was the reward I truly desired. The pride I felt when the students I taught graduated, indescribable.

My favourite part of teaching is helping people learn new scans and that is where the idea for Ultrasound Tutoring Hub came about. I learn best when someone is teaching me one-on-one without the pressure of time or judgement from others, so that is what I want to offer you. A private and safe space without pressure, whether to start at your level or refine your skills. Instead of long courses and overwhelming theory, I offer focused, practical training, because you can watch a video or read a book, but ultrasound is like driving a car, you can only get good by actually doing it.

I am a home-based startup so expect a casual, relaxed, non-clinical but professional environment. My ultrasound machine is the well-loved Philips IU-22. Whether you are a student, professional or anatomy enthusiast, I will be by your side coaching you every step of the way. A pre-screened ultrasound model and all clinical consumables are supplied. I provide a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and learning feels achievable.

I look forward to being part of your ultrasound journey.

The idea for the unusual concept of ‘anatomical experiences for everyone’ was born from the utter fascination of ultrasound that patients have shown me over the years.  While ultrasound has been adopted by medical students in the Doctor of Medicine curriculums for educational purposes,3,4,5 there has been no widespread use of sonography as an educational tool for the amazing human body. I ask the question “why?” and offer a solution. These anatomical experiences make the most unique gifts that will not only educate, entertain but give an incredible real-time insight into the otherwise unseen.
